Acro & Tumbling

Acro & Tumbling at Stage Images Dance Studio

Strength. Flexibility. Control. Confidence.

Our Acro & Tumbling Program is a specialized training program that blends the artistry of dance with the athleticism of acrobatics. Through structured, progressive instruction, dancers build the strength, flexibility, balance, and body awareness that support every style of dance.

At Stage Images, acro is taught with the same intentional, technique-driven approach found throughout our studio. Every skill is introduced in a safe, logical progression, so dancers grow with confidence and build a foundation that lasts.

What Dancers Develop

Acro training strengthens the whole dancer. Skills learned in the acro room carry directly into ballet, jazz, contemporary, and performance work.

  • Strength and stability through core, upper-body, and lower-body conditioning

  • Flexibility developed safely and progressively over time

  • Balance and control in inversions, transitions, and partnered skills

  • Body awareness that supports cleaner lines and more precise movement

  • Confidence and discipline that come from setting goals and achieving new skills

In keeping with our philosophy, acro develops athletes and artists at the same time: dancers learn not only how to execute a skill, but how to perform it with intention and polish.

Expert Instruction and a Safety-First Environment

Safe acro training depends on qualified instruction, a progressive curriculum, and thoughtful class sizes. Our program is built around all three.

  • Expert Instruction: Our program is led by Ebon Grayman, a former Cirque du Soleil principal performer with more than 30 years of experience as an acrobatic instructor.

  • Progressive Curriculum: Dancers advance only when they have mastered the strength and technique each new skill requires.

  • Training Equipment: Classes are taught on tumbling and conditioning mats, and our equipment will continue to expand as the program grows.

  • Small Class Sizes: Each class is limited to 10 dancers, allowing for individual attention and hands-on spotting.

Meet Your Instructor: Ebon Grayman

Ebon Grayman brings more than 30 years of acrobatic instruction and an internationally celebrated performance career to Stage Images.

Born and raised in New York City, Ebon began gymnastics at age 15. He went on to earn a gymnastics scholarship to Temple University in Philadelphia, where he completed a bachelor's degree in Film Production.

Following his gymnastics career, Ebon was recruited by Cirque du Soleil for his tumbling skills and joined the touring production Alegría on a three-year contract across Asia and Europe. Seven months in, Cirque du Soleil directors selected him as understudy for the show's principal character, Monsieur Fleur.

After two years as understudy, Ebon stepped into the role full time and held it until 2003. Following eight years with Alegría, he was cast as the lead acrobatic character in Cirque du Soleil's Las Vegas production Zumanity, a role he performed for three years. He has since continued to perform around the world as an acrobat, aerialist, and lead character.

In the studio, Ebon is known for pairing technical precision with a sense of humor that keeps dancers engaged and motivated. His teaching centers on a strong acrobatic foundation: proper body positioning, excellent form, personal confidence, persistence, hard work, and a positive attitude. He is also launching Rollout, his full-body strengthening program grounded in gymnastics principles.

CLASS LEVELS & PLACEMENT

We meet every dancer where they are. Classes are organized by skill levels so each dancer trains with peers at a similar stage of development.

  • Beginning: For dancers new to acro. Builds foundational strength, flexibility, and body awareness while introducing skills such as rolls, bridges, and cartwheels. Dancers can still be working on these skills.

  • Intermediate: For dancers who have mastered foundational skills. Develops walkovers, limbers, and more complex balances and transitions. Placement is determined through an assessment class.

  • Advanced: For experienced dancers ready for advanced acrobatic and tumbling skills, with an emphasis on control, polish, and performance quality. Placement is determined through an assessment class.

Tuition & Program Details

Acro & Tumbling is a specialized program with its own tuition structure. Because it requires dedicated safety equipment, smaller class sizes, and certified instruction, acro tuition is offered at a standalone rate and is not included in multi-class or sibling discounts.

Acro classes are open to dancers enrolled in any Stage Images program, as well as dancers who wish to take acro on its own.

Tuition: $85 per month per class

ex: 1 class per week = $85 a month
